Can you modify a Pal xbox to "become" an ntsc xbox?

I got an xbox mod chip with several bancs. (Xbit2mbits)

And I was thinking is it would be possible to; have a banc with the official xbox ntsc bios, hdd locked to an NTSC eeprom. Would Xbox Live work with that?

If thats possible then you could go with having 3 hdds with a swtich, one for the pal, one for ntsc and one huge for "stuff".


I only have one valid NTSC eeprom and dont want to screw it. I know MS checks the bios, is there anything else that would stop me from getting this to work?

the difference between uk and US machines is a tiny change which can be done with the enigma switcher. I could be missing something but when I have switched my PC to NTSC - the original MS dashboard switches as well even when the chip is disabled hence I now have a NTSC machine (with or without modchip enabled.)

But if your NTSC bios is loaded onto one on the modchip banks - how will you play on live ? The mod will have to be disabled - the NTSC bios will have to be your onboard bios for using with live.

I was thinking that the Live doesnt look for a Mod but checks what bios you are running.

I think live works by seing if a bit of unsigned code will execute - if it does then the machine is modded.

I thought it did a has check on your bios to see if it was modified. The bios would have to be 1mb anyhow.

To make it more clear, I want to convert an pal xbox to act like an original ntsc xbox so I can play original ntsc games live

This is what I want......

Run an original US bios of the banc, (I think xbox live checkes what bios is running so an orginal bios should be cool, or?) have a hdd locked to a ntsc eeprom. Cant that work?

The bios is the same mate, you can use eprom magic to reconfigure your box to ntsc and american region (if you had a Xenium, it could do it for you)

Live checks for Unsigned code , if you booted your MSBios from the chip you could go on live

Just outa interest, how much r eproms going for ??

There is a guy in xbox-scene.org selling eeproms at 10 bucks for 1, 3 for 20, and 2 for 15 I think or 16, cant recall. He mods peoples xboxes and asks them if they wouldnt mind to get an old eeprom as they wont play online anyways. And then he sells them, and he deletes the sold one from his database....accourding to him.
