Nice to see the Chelsea boys making a good showing. Why are we still persisting with Heskey? Surely there's better talent around to take a chance on.

i would of liked to of seen sean wright-phillips in the sqaud instead of phil neville, i see ledley kings made his way in, no doubt because everyone else was injured. it's a shame defoe & smith didn't make it but theres plenty of time for him.

gotta agree with my pal xdam over Ian Walker. Its a sad state of affairs that two of the three named goal keepers in the england squad have been relegated, and the other one hung in the top flight by the skin of his teeth.

I dont see how Chippa slating Heskey again for being picked is going to help England, the people that matter know how valuable he is to a team aside from his goal scoring. If he was playing club football with a prolific striker he wouldnt get half as much stick as he does, but because owen is pretty goal shy for a supposed world class striker Heskey gets a lot of stick for not weighing in with his fair share of goals.

I personally think the best addition to the squad is the presence of JC. As much as a utility player that he is, he is also a great player to have around to keep spirits high, so i think that sven has made a good choice there for a number of reasons.

Im more concerned with the presence of Phil Neville then anything else. "Ah yes, he plays for Untd, lets shove him in the squad too". You cannot tell me that P Neville is better then Danny Murphy or Scott Parker. Never in a year of sundays.

both SWP and defoe definitely deserved a place in the squad.. otherwise, it's pretty much as expected..

Hmm, Phil Neville's inclusion is no surprise...he is one of Sven's favourites. I too would have liked to see Sean Wright-Phillips going and Scott Parker.

just shows what a lack of english goalkeeping talent there is. I was dissappointed to read Martyn was asked but refused to go. Just don't understand why people dont want to play for their country.
Vassell is the luckiest bloke in England. HE's been crap for us this season.

Dont blame him to be honest, he was always overlooked for David Seaman. Why should he play 2nd fiddle to David James.

Greeno was told he had to have an operation, so he was out of the picture otherwise after what Eriksson said Walker wasn't going to be selected.

How serious is the operation? He played in martin Keowns testimonial at Highbury tonight.

King has played the last 2 games of the season at centre 1/2 and we kept 2 cleans sheets... also played at the back against the scum and played well. Amazing that is tool Pleat all season to realise that he would be better used at the back where we were always weak...

Gutted for Defoe... he has played consistantly very well since signing for us and Vassell has played 2nd fiddle to Angel and will not be match fit for the championship.

Like Tattooed Freak says, Eriksson has his favourites and it will cost us this time. If Owen doesnt have a complete turnaround in form then we wont score enough goals to qualify from the group stage.

Not too bad. He has a bit of pain when he plays, but the club want him to sort it out before the beginning of the season.

I would have like Shaun Wright-P or Scott Parker go instead of Carragher.

Either one has the potential to make a great supersub on the international sceen.
