Batch Zipping

Right, I need to individually zip about a thousand files and I cant be arsed to sit in front of the computer all day doing them individually.

So does anyone know a method or a program that can do them in batch? I did have a program that did it ages ago but its useless to me now the 30 days have ran out. What are the alternatives/other methods?
