12x speed dvd reading ??

Hi all,

my plextor px-708a dvd burner states that it can read dvd at 12x, but when i use dvd decrypter it only reads at 2x ????? any ideas as to why, yet my mates one reads a lot quicker, same burner same software ??

technically your drive could never read a dvdr at 12x anyway, i read somewhere that the very maximum your gonna get its 8x with a dvdr, u would only get 12 from an original, somethin like that, 2x is too slow tho, must be somethin wrong there

i updated the latest firmare from plexys site, still the same reuslts

its not X12 - the current limit is at DVD x16 speed. this is eqvuialent to a 52X CD speed - faster than this and the discs get damaged. which is why the CD drives have stopped getting faster.
