Ok, a bit of useful software next... some of you may have noticed that the standard print size is 6" x 4" (3:2) and yet digicams take photos at 4:3 (although some cameras now have 3:2 formats).

well if you take your 4:3 photo in to get printed, you either get a white border or your photo gets cropped by the processing company. If this happens you don't know what's going to get cropped, so do ther cropping yourself with this http://ekot.dk/programmer/JPEGCrops/

It allows you to crop to any aspect you want and also lets you lnow when your cropping too much away to affect quality.

Thanks Flipper looks like a 'must have'. I didn't know about the automatic cropping of images but it is obvious now you mention it.

Here's a useful tool. Input what features you're looking for, move the sliders around to indicate how important those features are, and it will (eventually) produce a list of suitable candidates.

Once you've got your list, compare the images from the cameras side by side.

And a few more review sites.

http://www.cameras.co.uk/ - also has a handy best UK price feature.
