Default Help needed with Aladdin Advance

I have just modded an Xbox with the Aladdin chip but when I go to boot off the chip the machine powers off before the 1 second timing required for boot up. I am pretty sure that there is one point that causes the machine to do this. Does anyone know which one it is. Cheers !

Chutneylad i know this is off topic, what do you think of the Aladdin chip? Can you turn off the chip and still use Live without any probs? Thinking about getting the Aladdin chip.

The Aladdin chip is V good I have fitted loads with no probs but this one is giving me real shit. They are cool for XBOX live play as well. The good thing about the chip is to enable it you have to hold the power button in for a second which you would prob not do if you were playing a LIVE game.

The D0 point if soldered wrong normally gives a flashing LED error but this one does JACK. There must be a specific soldering area that is responsible for this error unless of course the chip is Duff anyway !

Cheers for replys so far ! :thumbs

I personally think they are the biggest bag of shite on the market and certainly not for people with beginners soldering skills.

give me an xecuter or xenium any day.

Don't want to enter an argument but all 3 mentioned chips have same soldering points but Aladdin is much cheaper. The chips you have mentioned have a lot more features but it is a very very low proportion of XBOX users that will use these features. Most people want there XBOX's modded so they can play backups and that's it. There has not been a game released yet that will not play with an Aladdin chip so to say that it is a shite chip is a little narrow minded. Does anyone know of any games that run better on a Xenium than they do on an Aladdin ?

I agree that the Xenium and Xecutor chips are better overall but why try and sell a blind man a TV when he only needs a radio ?

They dont have the same soldering points at all though do they ?

xenium and xecuter are better for the newbie because they only have one tricky soldering point that being the DO point.

Aladdin advance (cheap piece of shit) comes without any wire or pin header option. There are also two small (as well as Do point ) that need soldering and they are many a newbie solderers downfall.

chip installers love them because they pay little money for them and make a fast buck by installing them.

I see absolutely no reason to start penny pinching when installing a mod on your box. If its purely a financial thing then just flash the TSOP because you arent going to use live or pay for original games if you dont have the money to invest in a quality chip.

all solder points are the basically the same regardless of the chip :S

if you can solder a pinheader in, you can solder wires into the same points, its not that much different

AppleX V chips come with a pin header too, and can be turned on and off without the need of an external switch...unlike certain mods

The D0 point is the hardest of all points to solder on any chip. So if you can't solder a D0 point then you can't solder a chip full stop.

I do agree that a cheap and cheerfull solution is to have the BIOS flashed but most people charge around £30 ( Bowlers Manchester for example ) for a bios flash. That is not a cheap option when you can get a 'shitty' Aladdin for £10.

back to the subject ive had this problem a few times and found that the small control chip is probably faulty if you wire the chip up and forget the d0 bt l1 l2 conection on the chip then just connect the d0 to ground and the chip works no probs
the only downside is the chip is peminantly enabled so no live but alot of people arnt bothered woth it anyway

btw most aladdins that ive fitted carry the xecuter bios on them anyway

Sorry are you saying not to solder the 4 mentioned points at all and just wire D0 to ground ? In effect making the chip 1 wire !

    then they are illegal.

alladins dont come preflashed and contrary to your post before are harder to solder. The point where the extra cables get soldered are on paar with the Do point in size.

alladin advance are anything but newbie friendly.

    check out the install diagrams.

Yes he is , but if you put a switch in-line with the D0 (you are using the bottom D0 aren't you, really easy) you still can switch it off for LIVE.
