XBOX emulator HELP Please

I've downloaded the game Project Gotham Racing 2..
cos I can't afford an Xbox

I can't get a working Xbox emulator and a friend of mine who's a supermod of this forum told me you lot know all your stuff.. and you'll help me... so here's what I got..

I'm running 2.2, 60 Gig drive, Radeon 9600 Pro 128, 512 DDR... (Spec should be ok)


I've tried cxbx I get
Emu (0x1A60): * * * * * EXCEPTION * * * * *
Emu (0x1A60): Recieved Exception [0xC0000005]@0x00193E99
Emu (0x1A60): * * * * * EXCEPTION * * * * *

I've tried Xeon I get (I Believe this online runs Halo)
Access Violation at address 03013AF7 in module 'Xeoncore.dll'. Read of address B4FBE7E4

Currently no such thing as a proper Xbox emulator at the moment . I havent tried the Xenon Emu - (which only runs Halo) I will check it out.
As halo is on the PC now anyway its not worth emulating it really.

buy one - thats you only real option.

OK looked into this and as I thought your screwed.

Xeon only runs Halo and not even in a playable form - you need the MS SDK version of direct X running for it to work which you can get here

but as mentioned its not actually playable - the Xeon Emu is not finished and is just proving that is it technically possible to emu Xbox on a PC. It dosnt run anything else.

There is no Emu that runs PGR 2 or in fact any full Xbox title and its not going to happen for a while and definetly not with the spec of PC your running with. Lets face it there only just emulating the PS1 OK now !

Sorry mate save your £129 (cheaper if 2nd hand) and buy the real thing.

To be honest, I even doubt that your system specs would be good enough to run an XBox emulator even if it was fully working. That's not to say that your system is shit (it sounds about the same as mine), it's just that I remember when the N64 emu first came out the computers that were commonplace then had trouble to even run that.
I don't think it is just a matter of emulating the games, the computer may have to emulate the internal processes of the machine.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. It sounds like sense to me.

yes mate it did, there appears to be no pop up on this new skin for the forum as I didnt notice it had arrived( or my popup stopper is blocking it)

I have heard of what you mention and its a piece of hardware used by developers to replace the DVD-rom drive with a HDD to run game images from - the rest of the Xbox hardware is the same though - so this just emulates the DVD drive and not the Xbox itselve. interesting though.

a 2.2 will run a xbox emulator at 4x xbox speed with ease.


emulating xbox is nothing like emulating other consoles as its got a standard pc processor in it.


only main things that need changing are directx calls maping to their windows couterparts, and the odd few that dont exist, making a routine to do it on the windows version, read cxbx's site he explains it in detail
