Which digital camera for �200?

I'm looking to buy a digital camera in the next 2 weeks and i've set my budget to �200. I've seen the Canon A80 for �199.99 at Argos which looks very tempting.

Does anyone know of any alternatives to the A80?

The A80 is quality - I've got it. However if you're budget is �200 then don't forget you'll need to buy extra memory, batteries and a case?

7dayshop have it at �174 here

there's so many cameras around this price it really depends what you want from it

Thanks for the link Bananas33, basically i just need a good spec digital camera to take decent photos. Going to Goa in 2 weeks so need something to take the pics.
The A80 has got some good reviews plus it's dropped down in price.

There is also the Olympus C-50 Zoom as well which is currently �199.99 inc VAT and free leather carry case at dabs.com

better add that 7dayshop are in Guernsey so you can end up paying VAT and handling charges, it's a gamble

I have a Fujifilm F420 and its wicked, 6 megapixels and runs XD memory cards, batteries last ages and you can use normal batteries too (although I would recomend the high power duracell)

anyway, one on ebay here for �180 buy it now

just got a Fujipix s3000 form 7 day shop for a 130 quid its 240 in the argos it took a week to get here no probs and no vat on top its a good camera well pleased with it

There is a fuji A330 at 7dayshop for �99, me m8 got one and the pics hes showed me have been truly impressive, its a 3.1million pixel, also u can get the A340 which is 4 million pixels for �17 more then u can use the extra cash to buy mem cards, batteries and stuff

the Asda are doing a fijipix a210 with 16+64 meg xdcards+ cradle dock + 50pics to cd for145 quid.. thats not bad at all

Yeah i know m8, i nearly got it last week and the only thing that stopped me was that its not pictbridge compatible, its almost exactly the same as the a330 i mentioned above You even get the �10 leather case with it aswell and the cradle is around �60 but 7day shop have it for �22 and u get rechargable batteries with the cradle.

So that deal in asda really is good

its �149.79 so H4ss4N thats a boss one to go for m8

We've got one of these at work for taking pictures of damaged goods etc. We paid �250 for it with a 64Mb card. IMO it's a steal at �130 and was tempted myself when I saw the offer. Then I had a look at it's big brother the s5000 which has an impresssive 10x optical zoom to boot. You can get one of these for around �225 at the mo.

Having said that, I decided that if I was going to spend that sort of money for a 3Meg camera I'd look at the Minolta Z1 which is a good buy for less that �200. In the end tho' I opted for the Minolta Z2+256Mb card. Get it on Thursday so I'll be posting some piccys once I've had a play. �253 from Ebuyer incl. delivery.

the Z1 looks nice, so does the fuji S5000

both have 10x optical zoom which is great for takin pics on holidays of scenery n stuff, both are 3 megapix too, the only think im unsure of is the Z1s design, looks a little toy like compared to the fuji

amazing prices for such good specs tho, i want a new one

Originally I had purchased a Fuji A210 from Asda but the lcd screen broke while i was on holiday. Got my money back from Asda on Monday.

As a replacement i've just ordered a Z1, think the design of the Z1 is pretty cool. Will post on how it is when i get my hands on it.

I'm also looking for a camera for around the �200 mark (preferably less)

Main specs I need are:

- Good optical zoom (more than 3x)
- Ability to film video and sound (pref only limited by the size of memory card)
- Not too bothered about megapixels, but don't want anything less than 3 really
- Looks like a camera (not too bulky) (ie not the Z1)
