    Default WinXP Pro Engineers Edition??

I have a friend who picked up a copy of this recently, but I've never even heard of it before. Any one shed any light?

I could well be mistaken, so I asked him and this is what he replied with in his email:

Name: Windows XP Professional Engineer Edition
Description: Installs Windows XP Professional Engineer Edition

apparently it requires no activation and it also has some nifty little tweaks here and there....

Sounds like you've got a mislabelled "Enterprise edition", which also has no need for serial/activation.
<Lionel Hutz> Oh I am, am I? Is that what you think? Well if that's what you think, I have something to tell you. Something which may shock and discredit you. And that thing is as follows. I'm not wearing a tie at all.

Its just a Volume Liscene Key version of xp pro with some registry tweaks. Someone has built it using the unnatended setup and oem utilities. I am a member of the forums where this was created and I must say there has been some stabiltiy issues for some peeps.

SpudTheBinx - I *think* I know what forum you are on about as this is where my "friend" got it from.

He did a fresh format last night and reports back that everything is OK so far.... he also had another look at the forum where he picked this up but doesn't see any talk of the stability issues you speak of.... perhaps you could IM me some more info? My friend doesn't want to be running an unstable version....
