NTL box - Which one is best

I've read all the interesting posts about NTL boxes and the various model numbers.
Please could someone give me some advice on which model to get, perhaps the pros and cons of the diff models and how easy each one is to modify.
Any help/guides would be really appreciated as I'm a newbie in this (I'm sure you can tell!) :nowords:

depending on what area you in ......but I try to go for the 1000's so i can get the info from the data base that is floating around the usual places :censored

First thing to do is find out if your in a docsis(ex c&w) or davic(pure NTL) area.
