He's probably had the TSOP flashed, done usually by fitting a mod, flashing the original xbox bios then removing the mod AFAIK.

It can be done without a mod but I can't remember how - there was a guide somewhere.

Search for google/xboxscene for UDE UDE2 guides.

please note that any Xbox modded in this way can no longer play on Xbox Live as you cannot disalble the "mod" in a non chipped TSOP flashed Xbox.

daz73 theres a softmod now that allows straight booting into evox or any other dashboard for that matter. You dont have to flash anything. Theres a package that you can run from a mem card and install. you wanna be searching for ltools_007_v1.7.5 , or ltools_MA_v1.7.5. these are the UDE exploit but for mem cards and the 007/MA refer to the games that can launch the exploit.

Version 1.0 and 1.1 xboxs can have a switch fitted to switch between original and hacked bios on the tsop.
You'll need an original 007 under fire, memory card and the 007 raincoat save to flash the tsop via telnet. You'll also need to bridge a couple of points on the mobo. Takes about 15mins in total.

True - but if your going to mod the Xbox to this level you might as well have a mod chip fitted in the first place. Theres just no advantage I can see to flashing the TSOP, even if you can have multiple bios's.

Cam get hold of an original copy of 007 or mechassault .

get hold of a certain save game and copy it to xbox hd .

FTP the contents of Eurasia to your xbox .

Use a silver paint pen or buy a bottle of silver conduct paint from Halfords or somewhere simular to bridge the points in the tut .

Once done use Eurasia to flash and use aftershave to remove the conductive paint bridges again.

I know this is only a very rough guide but there are many upto date ones on xboxscene with diagrams etc.

Ive done 5 or 6 boxes this way in the last 3 months although it does rule out using xbox live.

UDE 1/2 Is definately the way to go for a cheap and easy way to mod your xbox with all the main benefits of a chip.

If you put the gamesave hack on to a memory card you have in effect a switch for xbox live should you want it.

You can even upgrade your hd with this softmod very easily now and if used with xbhm (xbox hard drive manager) you have the complete package.

I would seriously suggest you have a look at xbox scene for the full info and also anyone who is limited with the chip they have.

Well unfortunately, some people dont want to spend £30!

Using ude you dont even need to open your xbox, therfore keeping the warrenty valid which is a BIG plus point for some people.

I used it because I have a very old chip that I cannot update the bios on and so, not install a larger hd. Instead of removing my old chip and re-installing a new one, I came accross this method and thought I would try it.

With this hack installed I can do pretty much everything you can do with a chip now. (I even have the hack on a memory card so that I can uninstall it and revert hd back to factory and go on live should I wish).

Dont get me wrong, nothing will replace a chip for completeness but this is another option and I enjoy the playing around with my xbox in this way.
