    Question 6230 or 7610?

    Hi Guys,

I after a few years with SonyEricsson I am defecting back to the Nokia Camp.

    I am deciding on 2 phones; 6230 7610?

Which one should I go for?

I see there is an Unlock Calculator for the 6230, is there an unlocker for the Nokia 7610 yet? (Is it the same one?)

    Cheers

7610 is series 60 amd the 6230 is series 40. The 6230 looks the part but when it comes to features the 7610 (and its 1 megapixel camera) kill it hands down...7610 all the way

As with me i also defected back to nokia after tryin out samsung, motorola etc. If your going back to nokia then you cant go wrong with the 7610, its da bomb

Had the fone 4 about 4days now and the functions have been overwhelming such as mp3s as ringtones, movie editior and not forgeting the 1mega camera. The keypad is not a problem to use, you get used to as soon as you pull it out the box.

Personally I got both and I think the 6230 is a better unit. The 7610 looks good and has good features but I find it slow and not as user friendly as the 6230. However this might change as and when I load it up with apps and games.

I got a sim-free 7610 a few weeks ago and it's the dogs ! Haven't used a Nokia in a while ever since I sold my 8850 and since then have been using Sony Ericsson, Panasonic and Samsung phones. Was planning on getting the 6230 but due the fact it isn't symbian I opted for the 7610 instead. Haven't used a 6230 but I don't think you will be disappointed with the 7610. A fantastic phone, great camera and one of the best phones I have owned and used and I have owned a shitload of phones in the past !

Thanx for the response guys. I will definitely go for the 7610 now. Was just wondering if anyone knows of any method to unlock the phone. Can it be unlocked from a Calculator?

    Cheers

7610 looks like a powder compact, doesn't it even have a mirror at the back?
I have a 6230 and am very happy with it. Or am I just jealous?

I got my 6230 3 days ago and am already in love.

Its small, sleek and does a wonderful job.

I've had N-Gage and 6310i in the last 12months and this seems like the perfect combo.

I was reading that it can't handle anything over 256mb due to the power, and that using a higher capacity card may burn the phone out. Any truth in this?

Just got a 6230 yeasterday after sweating over choosing it or the C500. Still not f'ing sure!

My contract finished ages ago, and I've only just got around to looking for a new phone.

Nokia is a safe bet! I've never broken one yet, unlike the endless Sony/Samsung phones I have broken.

I think its got to be the 7610

got this 7610 a few weeks back and am quite happy with it, am still trying to understand all it's features g.p.r.s. data transfer etc. my only doubt would be sound quality, playing back music seems a little jumpy, like bits are missing, not sure on this one. also could do with some decent speakers as an addon option.:nowords:

if you are using MP3 files which are around 4mb or bigger then you will have problems. Your best bet would be to convert them to a lower bit-rate or even better put them in mono to cut the size down even more and it will not jump. The speaker on the 7610 isn't brill so it doesn't really matter too much about quality.

Also try one of the MP3 programs like Ultra MP3 or something. Again though don't expect iPod quality sound as the speaker on the phone isn't the best.

Convert the mp3's to AAC with dbpowerAMP, as they'll be smaller than mp3's, still keeping good quality.

DBPoweramp is truly a great bit of software. I have used it for a while and been tres impressed.

I would stick with the 6230 as it is a much more manly machine.

I've had a 7610 for about a year now - and it is a good phone. My only gripe is that it doesn't have stereo sound. I've got a 512mb card in it with lots of mp3's but you can only get headphone with one ear piece! the jumpy sound files are .amr files which pause every few secs. The camera is excellent on it, but some of the buttons don't work properly now. I'm now considering getting the Sony K750i with the 2 mega p camera. Anyone got any views on that?

6230 is a very simple but great phone id prefer it because it looks nicer, and i dont like using symbian phones i shouldnt have to wait to see my miss calls ets which is the case on series 60 its more of toy phone then a purposefull phone
