.mov is an apple quicktime movie format so....
1) install quicktime pro which has an option to export to avi (its expensive and the output is poor)
or
2) install eo video www.eo-video.com (reasonably cheap and very good but quite slow) you will also need to install either the free quicktime, quicktime alt or k-lite mega codec pack to get the quicktime codecs installed)
or
3) install mainconcept mpeg encoder (fast and converts most formats) again you'll need one of the above files installed to get the codec)
any one of those will convert it to a useable format
quicktime will convert it to .avi
eo-video will convert it to mpeg 1, mpeg 2, vcd, svcd or avi
mainconcept will convert it to mpeg 1, mpeg 2, vcd, svcd, dvd or a bunch of other mpeg formats.
hope thats of some help.
abc man is there any way of e-mailing the full package ie 16 mb without being stopped by outlook express ??
thanx for the other stuff :thumbs
It's not Outlook Express that stops large attachments, it's your ISP.
Rar or Zip the package up and specify that it is to broken in to chunks of X size and then mail them to him instead.
Pretty much every ISP out there places a 10MB limit on mailbox sizes, so split it in to (say) 5MB chunks.
Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit the wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it
cheers guys :thumbs
Have you got any free wbespace with your isp, might be easier to upload them and send the links.

you want to send me the .mov file?
if so then just grab mirc and join #digital-forums or #shafted and dcc it to me, if on the other hand you want the software off me i'm afraid i cant help i'm a beta tester for eo-video so i have my own key, i bought mainconcept so again the key is specific to my copy and i wouldnt touch quicktime with a bargepole (i use the klite mega codec pack to provide me with the quicktime codecs so i can play .mov files in media player).
i got it away cheers guys :thumbs
now he wants to do video conferencing
just thought that i would tell you guys
a promise is a promise ,and i will not tell any more jokes in the comedy club
the crack was good though didn't find any of the jokes remotely funny myself he he:thumbs
you can tell a lot about somebody by their criticism and remarks want some profiles for a laugh ??
Errrr WHAT??
.mov, just leave it in it's native format instead of converting it and losing quailty.
VLC WILL PLAY .MOV video files and it's Completely free and you DO NOT need to install ANYTHING :thumbs
VLC (The Dogs Bollocks Media Player)
Other OS Versions @: http://videolan.org/vlc/

P.S) DO NOT EVER INSTALL CODEC PACKS ! ! ! Codec packs are proper nasty and can seriously effect media playback quality and conflict with each other!! The best option that most media pros use is that they install the latest DivX and Xvid codecs and any media that cannot be played with these codecs installed is then run with VLC (VLC has never failed me on ANY movie I have downloaded, it's a fantastic piece of software that does not mess up your system like codec packs more often than not do)

i've got the latest divx and xvid codecs installed as well as the k-lite mega codec pack and media will play anything, not only that but should i wish (like many people do) to put any of my fies onto a disc that can be read in a standalone dvd player as long as the codec is there (which it is) i can convert what i please of course if vlc actualy worked i'm not aware that it has that magical feature too (it doesnt) so IF it works AND you want to watch everything on your pc monitor then fair enough, the rest of us tend to live in the real world and need to watch in other rooms on normal tv's that are too far away from a tv out card.
videolan is the shit, been using it ever since i found it 18 months ago, never turns anything down, not sure about mov.

Ask anyone who knows shit about video work and encoding and they will all say that you should steer WELL CLEAR of codec packs as they are proper shit!!!

thats what i answered in the first placewondering if anyone can help me on the conversion of mov files
Yes, BUT the best option is to NOT lose quality and leave it in it's native format and just use a Media player that will play it!!
Converting it WILL lose quality and take time which is totally pointless when a FREE media player that you don't even need to install will play it no problem!!
