    Default Bikes on the pavement

I`ll tell you what really brasses me off, and that is grown men riding their bikes on the pavement.
I was out shopping the other day when this guy in his twenties went hammering past me on his bike, while I was walking on the pavement, he was that close I felt him pass me. he continued on his way and sped past this 'old dear' missing her by inches, the idiot could have killed her if she had suddenly turned left. I understand that little kids cant be expected to ride their bikes on the road, but surely there is no excuse for adults doing the same thing? :annoyed:

I ride my bike on the pavement sometimes, i probably go fast in and out of people but i can tell im not going to hit them before i get there, i believe its slighly better to annoy you than have my mum bury me when one of those cunts on the road run me over.

the bikers that p*ss me off are the ones on the road that think red traffic lights mean go, they have no regard for the rules of the road

I ride on the pavement all the time as most drivers are complete knobs when it comes to giving us space to ride.. or they will do the opposite and won't overtake when there is clearly enough room too, so it ends up 3-4 cars in a slow que just because a shit driver is scared to overtake which is easily solved by going on the pavement. and regards to cyclists ignoring lights so the **** what? as long as you do it at the right time when nothing is coming or do you want us to get off walk onto the pavement corss the road on foot get off pavement and start riding again?

I think he lives in a nice area as the bikes don't get pinched!

It is annoying though when cyclists use the pavement. A bit of common courtesy at times "from some of them" would be nice.

At the end of the day sometimes you come to the lights on a bike and these no danger at all, you can either stop like a twat because someone says you have to(do you do everything people tell you is right) or you can carry on with your journey and annoy the drivers because lets face it, the whole thing is about the fact that someone who isnt as much of a lazy twat as you is getting one over on you and spending far less money in the process, or the reality is your just angry because sue, norman or whoever wouldnt let you get your leg over last night, you mum shouted at you, your disturbed by czar junikies posts or whatever.

    maybe, im a bt pissed.

I cant believe that some of you think riding your bike on the pavement is O.K.
pavements are for pedestrians. and yes I did it sometimes when I was a kid, but I stopped doing it when a 'friendly' policeman taught me the error of my ways, with a clip around the ear. we all think we are experts on our bikes, but the fact is we cant predict what other people will do, and if we do hit an 'old dear' we will almost certainly hurt them.
the fact remains riding your bike on the pavement is illegal.

I understand that the roads today aren`t as safe as they could be, but riding on the pavement isn`t the answer, there is always the bus service.
oh and nice one "cam", :thumbs you seem to have the right idea .

it all depends on how you react when you are passing people on the pavement, as obviously if the path is full then there would be no reason to ride on it. And it' not as like I'm one of the twats who flys down them at 20mph whenever I cycle on pavement its normall about 10mph and will reduce speed to about 3-5 mph when passing people as most of the pavements in the UK aren't big enough to pass at high speeds without a close call or a little brush of the person. but I see more danger in a cyclist getting hit by a car then anyone on the pavement get hit by a cyclist

and it seems that alot of you don't even read posts as I clearly said "as long as you do it at the right time when nothing is coming" e.g you stop at the light look at what's coming then if theres no cars you cycle on... it's not as if you act as if there isn't even traffic lights as then you will deffinatly be hit in your first day of riding like that.

ok i can see your point but theres plenty of times im sat in my car waiting at an empty set of lights with no-one around at some late hour, if no-ones coming do i go on... no, why, cos its against the law.

    correct!

if u want to be on a pavemet get of your bike and walk other wise get the fudge on the road
and if u dont feel safe buy a car and stop breaking the law.

its okay to ride on the pavement
and it is dangerouse to ride on the road...
but just think u hit sum 1 on the pavement they dont get hurt but in this world ya likely to get sued throught your teeth

if u get knocked off ya bike while on the road u carry on and 1 sum turns left infront of you or bash into you then your f**ked but at least u your not in the wrong
im waiting to get hit by a car or a car to pull out and me hit it cos then that will be soooooo funny

cos im gonna be so pissed they will get there arses ****ed...... wots the accdent groups fone no again ?

The Accident group went bust ages ago.

People who ride bikes on the pavement are cunts! My gran was hit by someone riding on the pavement and it want a kid it was one of the twats that dress in lycra, luckily she was pulled out of the way by someone and only received a blow to her arm which was very baddly brused for about 7 weeks and in a sling for a few weeks.

The goverment is trying to get people out of their cars by createing cycle lanes I drive over 50000 miles a year all over the country and the only place I have ever seen them in use is Oxford and everyoone rides a bike there. We loose 1 lane on each road they stick them on for them not to be used. the guy in lycra never use them because they complain that the grids are slippy so they drive int he only lane we have left.

As for the cunts who go through trafic lights on red well if I ever get the opertunity to hit one of them I will floor it and try my hardest to get them. it will soon teach them a lesson. rules of the road are you must stop if you are instructed to by red lights, stop signs and policemen. and the ones that are wrse are those going over pedestrian crossings when people are crossing the road.

Also what the **** are the green boxes for at trafic lights? you know the ones with a big bike in them? cos if a bike should be in there when the lighs change new speed bump time

    Rant over, its getting late

cam I would buy a car if I was old enough but I'm only 16 :/ and I'm surprised a lyrca twat was on the pavement as they are normally the "pro" cyclist who fly around on roads tbh they are the sort we should get rid of I'm more annoyed of their arrogance then people riding on paths

I'm sorry but Bikers on the roads are idiots! They have a death wish! It is getting dark now and without the appropriate clothing, protective gear, a lot of bikers will get injured in the winter!

Yes I agree dickheads with BMX's on the pavements should be shot! but to be on the road with no head gear (you look like a twat but it will save your life!), no light coulors, no reflectors, no lights etc...... can you see where I am coming from as a car driver!

It is against the law as far as I am aware riding a cycle without the protective gear, the same as it is to ride on the pavement. Examples need to be made with some of these idiots!

But then begs the next question, I pay road tax, cyclists dont! Therefore I own the road and I do not want these little $hits on the road without any reflectors/lights etc..... I do respect the people who do it right however, mainly because it takes guts to wear one of those helmets lol, and I think it's really stylish of them with trousers tucked into socks.

It is for peoples own saftey to wear the protective gear, I think you will agree that cyclists will have the respect if they are kitted out. They do have to be careful because you still get to$$er 18 year olds in SRI Nova's, mark 3 escorts (ooooh nice cars NOT!!!) who think they are class!!

Right thats off my chest now! Thank you
    We all make mistakes sometimes
