    Default Norton Anti-Virus 2005

Has anyone ever seen the attached picture of an error type message that i keep receiving when i restart my PC.

Its only started happening since i upgraded my xp sp2 using the windows xp with sp2 cd. I did this because i was installing a new motherboard but turn out to be a faulty board, so i installed my old motherboard but continued with the upgrade process.

Now everytime i restart i get the attached message.

Des anyone know how to stop this message from popping up.

    Thanks for any help.

Do you really need SP2? If you have a good firewall & a good popup blocker don't bother for now - uninstall SP2. Alot of people have been having problems - personally I'm waiting for the dust to settle before letting it near my machines.

Have a look around the web - you'll see lots of individuals and companys are staying away from SP2 for now for various reasons - at the end of the day its up to you...

Hi thanks for the replies, I've just upgraded to Norton SystemWorks 2005 Premier, which at first i haddvarious issues with installing, but eventually i managed to get in installed by having to uninstall SystemWorks 2004.

This appears to hve cured that message from popping up when i start windows but for how long i dont know, lol.

    Thanks again.

Just thought i would add to this, If you are thinking of upgrading any of your norton products from 2004 to 2005, etc, then i would suggest uninstalling them completly by using the instructions on nortons website which is found at the bottom of this http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...01092114452606.

Cause i have just had nearly the whole weekend trying to sort the fecker out. I upgraded to System Works 2005, didn't seem to have problems but then i tried upgrading Internet Sercurity 2004 to 2005 but it had an error part way through and ended up uninstalling all of internet security, and it wouldnt reinstall, then i uninstalled system works (big mistake as i couldnt get it back on). Well after 36 hours of fiddling about and trying different things (i was trying to avoid connecting to the internet while i didnt have any protection cause knowing my luck 5 mins and i would have 70 trojans), i eventually found the norton website and uninstall all the files that the add/remove tool doesnt. And this morning i managed to install both 2005 programs.

Very frustrating, so just be warned that its probably best to start from fresh rather the install on top of one another.

    Regards

    Mark
