    Default Remote PC access control???

    Hi Guys,

hopefully someone browsing this forum can help me, I'm looking for web access to my home pc, currently enjoying the free trial of gotomypc which is excellent but dont want to be paying 20$/month when it finishes....

can't configure pc anywhere to tunnel through the proxy I need to use here at work and was hoping there is something available that I can run at home to enable me to logonto my pc via any browser.

remote desktop via XP seems to only let me log on from external locations, not control it whilst being logged on at home and I haven't had any joy with dameware.....

is there an easy secure way of doing this? I'm open to any suggestions.

    thanks in advance guys.

    www.realvnc.com

Really easy to set up and free! However you have to open ports which could be bad. This has worked fine for me from friends houses etc... but I cant access from work for some reason??

Just loads up from an exe file into a Java browser and really good, well for free it is

If you ened any help with it let me know. I had a few teething problems but fixed them pretty much straight away. I just had to open a few ports on the Router.

I use www.logmein.com which is a free service. It's based on the RemotelyAnywhere software so it's really good and fast.

I'll have to contact the IT dept in my office to see why I cannot access my Home PC through RealVNC. Works fine at friends houses etc....

It's probbaly because they have blocked all outgoing ports except, HTTP/FTP/etc.

That's why you need software that tunnels over HTTP which I'm not sure VNC does.

Just try them all one at a time to see what suits your needs and gets thru your company's firewall.

thanks for logmein, looks like just what I need.

there's some software called permeo security driver that can force apps to use certain proxies that otherwise would just use standard ports. might be worth a try with vnc in the office goldberg.
