looking for advice please

Ok, here's what I want to do and I hope someone can advise me.

I have three computer all with crt screens, two in bedrooms and one in the kitchen. My plane is to change the kitchen screen for a tv tft screen and still use one of the computers with the screen.

My problem is that I would like all the computers to be in a cuboard about 25ft away. AsDVD drives will still be needed. Can I get an extension for the screen to work at that distance and an extention for the DVD. I would like the DVD to be under the screens and in a box. The easy bit is extending the speakers.

The same will apply for the computers upstairs. AND they all need internet access and be networked.

It is quite possible to get SVGA extension leads that will reach 25ft, although you will have to buy a decent quality one so as to not get interference.

As for getting a 25ft IDE cable for the DVD drive, forget it.
Maximum IDE cable length should be no more than 18", although I have seen IDE drives functioning correctly with slightly longer cables, there is no way on this earth they will function over that distance.

That's a pity about the DVD drive. You would have thought some bright spark would have solved this problem by now. Do you know if there is a remote box that has the on/off switch, hot boot button, USB connection etc.
