    Question Help: Hewlett Packard Printer

I have a HP CP1700 printer and have recently had the message "cartridge expired". I have contacted HP and they have told me that it is for the customers benefit - so that the ink doesnt clog the heads!!

I personally think thats a load of bo**ocks and was wondering if anybody knows how to get round this. It appears to me that HP jsut want to maximise profits by making the cartridges "expire" after 2 yrs. :annoyed:

    Cheers

Is this as in the ink cartridg (what you can change) has expired, or is it saying that the printer heads have??

If its the cartridge, try running the "change cartridge" routine, thats how i got around it on an old printer.

Otherwise, if no-one can give you any advice on here, and you have to get a new printer, DON'T get a HP, cannon i250 are good, can pick them up for £50 (at least i did ) :thumbs

It is the ink cartridges - tried the change catrridge routine BUT these cartridges have a chip in them that tells the printer if the expiry date has passed and if it has renders the cartridges useless.

Tried phoning HP as this is a common gripe - nobody in HP UK knows why they decided to have expiry dates on the cartridges (yeah right).

I have found one web site which tells me to remove battery from the printer (i assume similar to that on the motherboard on my pc) which will reset the date. The only snag with that is i am not sure where the battery is located.

The HP printer i have got cost a fair bit so i dont really want to get rid of. Mind you, i sure aint buying HP from now on!!!!!!!
