It came out last year in the States but missed the UK Xmas period so was saved until this year. Can be bought very cheaply from the usual places (Ebay, PlayUSA...) albeit region 1.

I did remember getting it from somewhere and thinking it odd it was in the cinema again I think it's a bit of a mess up to not get a christmas film in time for the uk. It's not exactly difficult. Releasing a year later is pointless as there is dvds for it already.
