Question 2000 Box in Tuning Loop

    Hello Folks,

I've a problem with a 2000 box that goes into tuning mode every three/four minutes. I've programmed myself a funcard that picks up most of the channels after cutting talkbalk.

I've set the Net ID and frequency, according to the info provided in here, using libby, erased the sram and reset the Net ID, but still it carries on tuning itself.

I've seen a few posts about a test sim but only in relation to 1000 boxes. I would have given that a try myself but don't really know/can't find much info on the ins ands outs of running a test sim.

Does a test sim work on a 2000 box? Is there anything else I can try to stop this tuning from happening?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Mairtin

Not too sure if the box is originally from an C\W area Wizzard. Got it on ebay from someone who was selling a few of them who came from near Manchester.

Is there any way to telling if the box is C\W? It has the NTL logo on it and I'm in a TW area so you may well be right.

Thats your problem m8. The NTL boxes wont work in a Telewest area. To get it to work you would need to flash the atmels with TW dumps,,, but dont ask on the forum for people to do this for you.

I had the same experience with the 2000 box m8.

I thought it was just ex C\W NTL boxes that wouldn't work in a TW area . Back to the drawing board then. Thing is, TW boxes up for grabs are few and far between from where I've been looking.

Looks like I'll have to punt the one I've got as I don't even know where the atmels are in the box, never mind how I'd go about getting a TW dump.

Cheers for the reply anyway Termy.

As I have said m8,,, I had the same problem,,, but luckily someone was willing to flash the atmels for me. There are two in the 2000 box by the way.

    Mine got sorted though.

Yep, the only boxes I thought would have been a problem were the 4010 boxes as pointed out in Novice Angels tutorial.

One last thing though as far as this debacle's concerned... Will this box work in all NTL areas, including ex CW? I don't really want whoever I end up selling it to to go through the same experience as myself.

    Any info would be appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Mairtin

ps - just stumbled across the dbox2 forum - those boxes look the business and they will work with tw too!
