    Default Charity

I'm getting.....No, forget that. I AM pi$$ed off with people asking me for money.

Please donate £2.00 a month to some country I've never heard of....:annoyed:
Please donate to £10 to help the afgahns to buy more weaponry to kill our troops.:annoyed:
Please donate your left testicle so some other bloke can get aids shagging some whore.:annoyed:

Man, everyone seems to be asking for something.

If it' not the tax-man it's some poxy charity in another country.:annoyed:

1st off. If I'm going to help someone it'll be someone in this country who deserves it because our own government is to busy helping other countries.:annoyed:

2nd. If I want to give to charity(which I do) I'll give it on my own free will, and not because someone's asking for it.:annoyed:

    Thanks, for listening.

You could look like a heartless greedy b4stard for this post

However, I total agree with you. I give when I feel it's right and not when i'm hassled on the doorstep/street. I carefully select any charity I give to and mainly give to charities that I can see where the money goes. My main donations go to a local farm.

Would this be for donations to the sheep's abortion programme?

There are hints of xenophobia there but I agree about being harrassed to give money to charity. I once saw an advert for a charity who needed a new fundraising manager. It paid £50,000 a year and the job requirement was to raise their fundraising to £300,000 a year! Charities appear to be turning more and more to sales tactics used by large companies and I dont like it.

The way I look at it, If I can spend £70-80 for a pair of Nike or couple of 100 on a weekend that I wont remember, then spending £24 a year to help someone survive/live is peanuts.

Charity is not just about money, its about having the conscience to give a damn.:whistle

I always try and give to charities if/when I can, but I prefer to give what I see fit eg. a pound or two in the collection tin for the sally army or poppy appeal etc, etc, what I object to are the ones who send you a direct debit form asking you to give them a set amount each month and the minimum amount is £10 or £20, O.K it`s not a lot of money, but it`s more money than I want to give....so unfortunately these charities get nowt of me.....if they want to come around with a collection tin, well then I just may give them a pound or two also

I read somewhere that the charities that use canvassers in the street stopping people and getting them to sign direct debits dont see a penny of the money until about month 14 or 15. The first year or so goes in commission to the canvasser and his/her employer. So feck that for a lark. And you cant move in Belfast city centre without being stopped by one of these people, they stand along the street, on opposite sides so you cant avoid them. I expect its the same most town centres now.
