xp download problem

Using xp standard prog have been trying to open different programs to no avail
Machine states cannot open windows installer how can i revitalise this installer & where can i find a new copy any help appreciated Have original CD.
Please if possible advise which program will expand Windows dlls etc from original disc

Finally cured xp download problem caused by Internet download program manager
Which leaves odd info in many files.
But still have minor problem with keyboard layout using English uk layout the at format which i cannot type as used in emails etc appears to be transposed as you can see example ( "")
How do i correct this many thanks

ControlPanel > Regional & Language Options > English ?

The keyboard symptoms you suggest sound like your keyboard is set to English (US) layout, not English UK.


As the other chap mentioned, check the settings in control panel.

I would also check the default language settings as well as the keyboard.
