i must say that this is a very buggy game at the minute, collision detection is bad at times with the player often coming to a standstill and not able to move for a few seconds. this is annoying when the soldiers are firing at you. another main bug is if you play a game then decide to start a new one the game starts to be very jerky and buggy.

on another note i see people on about the warez release available on the net at the minute, this game is the only game being released in the last 5 years worth buying!!!. it only costs £35 from the shops and is a worth while investment. valve at the minute need all of the support we can give them and this warez release although expected is a big downer for valve. all software at one point gets pirated and released but i think that titles like half life 2 deserve to be bought and supported by the community. take that german arsehole that hacked valve last year 'axel g' at one point i bet valve thought of saying 'f*&k it' and just abandoning the entire project.

good on you valve for seeing it through.
im not decided yet about the game, its weird. on one hand the graphics are great and the detail is amazing yet at the point i am at in the game so far it has seemed a bit shallow.

the game does take an absolute age to empty its caches, i find it best to exit and wait for hdd to end before starting a new session

good on you valve for seeing it through.
    amen to that

My blue screen came from downloading and installing nvidia driver 66.93 so I got 70.41 from a beta site and it works perfectly, what a game, just on the airboat section, cool riding over the guards

machine should be ok, athlon 64 3200, 1gb ram, ati radeon 9800 pro 256mb, soundblaster audigy 2, twin 120gb hard drives on raid. it could be due to the fact ive just updated the catalyst drivers from ati???. not set my video settings up yet but does seem fine apart from the problems i mentioned above.

i keep wanting to start a new game and just explore, city 17 looks so impressive!

Yeah I was dissapointed with HL:Source, I was hoping they'd ahve done as good a job as CS:Source on it, but no, some extra random music, better lights but certainly nothing worth playing the whole game through again.

    HL2 still rocks

Finally i'm out of the darkness and into the city again

Just in case anyone has got this error:

For people that are running into the bug on startup that looks like:

"Map Version is 0, expecting 19"

Try this to see if it works:

    1. Go into your \Steam\SteamApps folder.
    2. Rename the file called sourcemodels.gcf to something else.
    3. Relaunch the game.

This is going to require a redownload of this file, but if you want to get playing tonight it's probably the best path. There are a couple of people now that were in this situation that were fixed this way.

As soon as we possible we'll release a fix for this that will not require this workaround.

Please let me know if this does or does not fix this specific problem for you. Just shoot me an e-mail at erik@valvesoftware.com. If this does fix it, it would be useful to get copies of a couple of the renamed (bad) cache files.

Well, I'm really pi$$ed off. At 22:30 last night, it was still saying > 450 mins to go, so I buggered off to bed and left it. Came down this morning to see the play game button available. Clicked it to be confronted with 10 mins of black screen while it loaded some more, followed by 20 mins of a blurry picture and the wonderful words "loading..." while it down loaded yet more. Couldn't wait any longer - had to go to work, so I STILL haven't seen the damn thing.

I can easilly pull 700+ kbs normally so it ain't my end.

    NOT IMPRESSED.

Yeah the circular saw blades are proper good aren't they.

There is a switch somewhere to turn the fence off, just can't remember where it is sorry, you're gonna love the last part of the map you're on atm it's just full of circular saw blades
