Lauded for his turns as Hamlet and Richard II, Knight of the Realm Sir Derek Jacobi is to turn his considerable acting talent to playing a similarly impressive role. But he won�t be appearing in the next instalment of Kenneth Brannagh�s fifty hour adaptation of Shakespeare; no, not at all. In the strangest development since Dame Judi Dench appeared alongside Vin Diesel in The Chronicles of Riddick, Jacobi has agreed to play the main villain in Underworld 2, Len Wiseman�s gothic horror sequel.

The film will undoubterdly take off where the first one ended: with vampires and werewolves battling each other for survival and a new race of uber were-vamps joining the fray. Jacobi will take the role of Marcus, the vampire master who became exposed to lycan blood at the end of the first film. We've no idea which race this will finally make him but it's a safe bet he'll be someone long in the tooth. Geddit? Long in the tooth? Anyone? Anyone at all? Sigh.

i was really looking forward to Underworld....and was left sorely disappointed

hopefully a sequel will be better

I thought this was going to be about Norman Pace from Hale and Pace starring in the sequel. Colour me disappointed.

The first film was atrocious. Why anybody would throw money at a sequel is beyond me.
