    Default House Of Flying Daggers

Very good. Very simlare type of film to Crouching Tiger, but more arty i feel.

Scenary is beuatiful and the fight secnes are very different.

If you like the more art style hong Kong and Japanese cinima then you will like this. Much beter then Hero and i feel on a level par with when we were all taken back by Crounching Tiger Hiden Dragon.

You can get this from cdwow online at a decent price too. the trialer is on apple.com\trailers, under sony classics at the bottom, middle row.

I am not sure if it is going to be relased over here for Cinema viewing.

    Enjoy.....Q

    Looks 9/10
    Story 8/10
    Overall 8.5/10
I am so glad i did maths GCSE

It was advertised as being in the cinema on Boxing Day (at least that's what the trailer said when i saw Hero). Want to see this one - looks amazing

Any chance of a review score by the way :whistle ?

I've had this for about two weeks and can't believe I haven't got around to watching it yet all yet. Watched the first ten minutes or so on Friday night and it looks quality but I hope it doesn't have the same failings as Hero, Zhang Yimou's previous film which for me while very good just didn't push the same buttons as Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.

a little dissapointed, maybe form the Hype of Mark Kemodes review (" I sat their open mouthed from beginning to end")

having seen Hero when it was released i.e. 2001, the the beautiful movemnt of CTHD, this didn't reach the heights of either film, no wonder it failed to inspire its home chinese audience

don't let that detract you from the special effects, good storyline which had so much more outage & a ending that needed a bit of pacience with.
asu such the connoissuer finds the odd flaw in this film ~ almost OTT photography which didn't align to the underlying scenes

good perfomances from all 3 lead actors, but the even the Twists failed to make it spetacular ~ it just seems so obvious (not the twists) rather than surprising
It will get the Oscar for 'best foreign' as Hollywood doesn't understand most european films but doesn't trancend CTHD or Hero, and that why i mark it down

    8 - 8.5

This film was good, but I agree with CominAtcha the ending was poor. The film, just didn't have the emotion behind it that Hero, and CTHD had.

After the masterpiece that was CTHD, this was a major let down, maybe my expectations were too high??

The ending was poor, it just seemed rushed and left you with lots of unanswered questions.

I would give it 8/10, purely for the cinematography - AND ZHANG ZIYI.

As a visaul spectacle it is well worth watching, as there are stunning scenes after stunning scenes, story sire however the plot is a bit lacking in depth. And yes you do feel a little bit disappointed by the ending.

The ending didnt do this beautiful visual movie any justice. I was all ready for a final battle between the Flying Daggers and the Government Soldiers. Other than that, the action was great and I thoroughlly enjoyed this.

Have to agree with Nonce boy as the ending of the film was a big let down.. infact I thought this was worse than Hero and didnt rate it that much. The fighting in the bamboo was class although you have to wonder about the brains of Jin as he spends most of the time running through forests with a blind girl and she doesnt trip up once... HELLO!

I thought this movie rocked. I prefered it to Hero and CTHD. I thought the cinematics were wonderful and the story/characters were more "real".

I agree then end was a bit of a let down - maybe they are leaving it open for some kind of sequal??

Agreed. Hopefully they will release a sequel to this.
