you need to use tempered glass i'm afraid. it may work fine but from what I know it's not worth messing with, bent fresnels are no use to anyone

I really like the idea, so maybe i will look into building one later in the year, just don't have any room to put it.
You can now get a Free version of the guide:

This free guide is pretty much the same (if not better) than the old payed for version.
just went back to it after cleaning it the other day to find it's now broke. TFT is shagged.

Sorry to drag this up....... effin bad news about the LCD mate.
Seriously going to do this now... designed a sweet vertical and am costing/sourcing parts.
Which leads me to a question !
Which lamp did lampig supply you with mate... any specs on it... before I import an ushimo T15 ?
Thanks.
hey mate, you're just after a bulb? mine is from Ventura Lighting in the UK, if you email lampig what your doing they'll instantly know what kit to send (cheap and cheerful), they can either hook you up with a ventura bulb which I think they do, or you can surf about for one. Mines a 32,000 lumin white light (I think...been a while) bulb and it was £15/£20 inc p&p. I'd not pay much more than this. Also it's had possibly hundreds of hours and doesn't seem affected yet, so they have longitivity - possibly 20,000 hours ... again, I've forgotten.
Regarding the lcd, is fixed it. My LG/Philips screen is hardcare beyond expectations, it's been stressed to a high level and still continues to function.
although over the time I am getting a little dissapointed with the clarity of my image projected, especially when i compared it recently to a (pretty decent) professional projector...it got blown away!
...I'd blame my design, light leakage, lack of internal reflection and general design mishaps more than the quality of the potentail images of these beasts. still for the cost involved, and shear dynamics of a huge wooden box, i wouldn't change it...not yet anyway

took the whole thing apart, i've got to scale down on my possessions so this had to go
shameless plug: all the kits will appear in the BST shortly...
the tft is the only thing left now...and i plan to try and get it back in the case, if not it's gonna go in some sketchy wooden frame ... it will be crap, no doubt if it's really crap i'll post a pic

Well the summer is here and I need a few projects to keep myself busy Plus I think its my turn to show u guys how to build one of these babies properly lol
Ages ago I started making one from an old OHP..the results were pretty shoddy but it didnt cost me anything aprt from the LCD Screen...heres as far as I got with that...
Anyways I have just bought all the kit that shangrula was selling to start building a proper one! Once it arrives I will start sorting out the box for it etc. Im going to go with a different design that the crappy old one i was tinkering with. Going to go for a simular design to this...
So basically a box but with the lens at one side...just as this will be easier to accomodate in my room for this. I will post pics as I construct it..should take a week or so I recon. Watch this space...
