Help Norton Personal Firewall and System Works with XPSP2

Have done a fresh install of XP and SP2 onto a new SATA drive and I have installed Norton System works and the firewall.

It seems to have created a variety of problems:

    1) Norton firewall seems to hate sp2! - it blocks all attempts to get onto the net! - I couldn't even get my home page to load up with it switched on.

    So I uninstalled it....

    tried again and..

    2) it won't let me turn on the firewall as it tells me that I don't have the authority to do so - and me the bloomin administrator and every thing!

I'm getting dead annoyed as Zone alarm is in no-way (imho) as strong as norton as I keep finding shed loads of stuff on my pc with spy bot!

Anyone know how I can get a decent run from Norton (or should I chuck it in the bin and buy Internet security cos it is nortons way of getting me to upgrade?)

Have Finally cracked it (me thinks).

After installing firewall and doing a program scan (and then it not allowing any access til it was disabled) I have spent a large proportion of the time at home today fiddling with the firewall.

You need to remove all the scanned programs (I did it after fully updating the prgram) and then rescan - this seemed to allow net access.

    BUT NOT EMAILS!!!!

So.....Again - I just removed the programs from the config section of personal firewall and scanned a third time, and that works....soooooo

long and short of it - Norton is like a woman - likes lots of attention, and tweaking in the right places a few times more than you'd expect before it is ready and willing to do a proper job.
