Can i run 2 window operating systems on 1 p.c

I am about to buy a new laptop and ive been told i can use it at work to surf the internet using a wireless connection. I know the new machine will have windows home installed and thats fine for what i need to use at home, however im told that i need to run windows xp pro if i want to network it to use at work.

Can i install a copy of windows xp pro onto the laptop hard drive and if so how do i choose the systen i need once its on?

ummm couldnt u just partition the hard drive and run xp home from one and xp pro from the other?

it will load up on boot what system to load... like mine...

switch on the computer and it says...

Windows XP Home
Windows XP Pro

just click which one and it boots into it.

You will need to partiton your hard drive using 3rd party software (such as Partition Magic), and then install XP Pro on to the second partiton.

When XP Pro setup is complete, you will have an automatic boot loader installed that gives you a choice of which OS to boot in to.

Why bother dual-booting? Why not just install windowsxp pro as the main os?

should give you a good enough start for a little read but remember they'll probably be biased towards micorosoft products. (i.e. partition magic is a handy app)

but like johnKeymer said, why not just sack off home and go for pro? or see if you can just setup wireless networking in home (or maybe there's security issues only PRO can deal with?)

thanks for the advice chaps. i did consider a fresh install of pro but i was just a it concerned regarding warrenty issues thats all.IT at work tell me I have to have xp pro so the partion and 2nd install sounds just the job so i think i will go with that.
