Nice post, I have used a few hundred of the red tops on my Pioneer 105 with no problems.
Hi
Nice price the problems with reds are well documented all over the net, the one that cocerns me most is they will record fine but say six months down they line they become hard to read and in some cases become unreable. This is not just my theory as i say its well documented but this has happen to some fairly important backups of mine.

Ferret
Some of mine are over 12 months old and play fine still, maybe there are varying batch quality issues.Originally Posted by Ferret19

Bought some the other day. In one word "CRAP".
Burnt 500+ in Pioneer 105's and 106's. No particular problems with either V2 or V3. Did 70 for a client as a promo video, and he's not brought one back.
I guess a lot of problems are the writers and what they like. Had a batch of Samsung 8x Dual format drives a few weeks back - some hated them, some liked them. Seemed to be two different drives.
stay clear from the datawrite reds, Grade B comes to mind at that price.
remember you get what you pay for,if its cheap, it be crap.
Datawrite red's that I've used for yonks seem to have become increasingly poor.
Stick with the datawrite grey 8x they work a treat and I've only have one coaster so far but that was because the drive died (pioneer 108). NEC3500 seems to like em 2 which is good news.
Burnt 50 so far no probs
just get the bulqpak orange with fujifilm its about 3.90 a tub much better and reliable dis*depot
bulqpak :nono
Burnt about 300 of them all now not readable.
