Which is the best placeto book a holiday from? i been browsing many but want one where offers include a package for say 2 or 3 people.

can any one reccommend?

That's too broad a question Nikki. Travel Agents, travel websites, independents etc. all deal with various travel/tour companies and airlines, often they'll push one company more than another due to that particular package being more profitable than another from another company.

The majority of companies concentrate on a particular market and part of the world so where are you looking to go?

Also depends when you want to go. If it's a last minute thing there are sites like www.lastminute.com that specialise in late deals. Teletext is also worth a look.

A few sites I'll always check out when I'm looking to book are always www.expedia.co.uk, www.cheapflights.co.uk and www.statravel.co.uk.

I've always found www.octopustravel.co.uk useful for cheap hotels

I have used http://www.portlanddirect.co.uk/ for the last two holidays, get the same service as thompson but cheaper.
