    Default Hard drive swap problems

    Hiya

If a harddrive is 'locked' in an xbox, then placed into another xbox (Same chip and bios) it does not recognise it... i have tried unlocking it in the new xbox (As i no longer have the original xbox it was locked in) but this did not work...

    any ideas welcome... please

well I thought that the modchip would allow you to use an unlocked drive and it should work fine. What chip and bios are you using?

Also if you backed up the info from the original box you can flash the new box with the eeprom of the old box. This should let you see the drive.

The HDD's are locked using a password made form the HDD serial number and the EEPROM of the Xbox they are in. If the drive is an original Xbox HDD you are screwed unless you unlock it in either the original Xbox or if as mentioned above - flash the new Xbox with the eeprom from the old one (effectiviely making it exactly the same as the old box) unlocking the drive and then falshing back to your new one. This of course can only be done if you made a backup of the old eeprom and have stored it on your PC.

If the drive is not an original Xbox HDD and you locked it your self using the Slayers disc or using Teamassembley config tool or similar then the master password will unlock it - I think its "teamassembley" but I havent done it for a while.

So ifs its an original you need the old eeprom - if its a replace hdd you may be in luck.

    hope this helps

    cheers
