try reading here would say you are trying to post in
1) LEGAL
2) SAT/CABLE TV
3) RADIO DECODING
4) Biggy7s cheapskates
if you read the RULES you will find out why you can not post in there
havnt tried to post anything i shouldnt,i,m a member of a few forums ,have been for a few years,kinda no the do,s n donts,came across this forum.it seems pretty good,think i need to do 10 quality posts,but where?in here?:whistle
Seems as good a place as any! <Licks finger and draws a '1' in the air>
I'm probably stretching a few rules by not really 'introducing' myself in an 'Introduce Yourself' sub-forum . . .
. . . I wonder if they'll let me in - even after the 10 posts . . . I'm wearing trainers you see!
:tongue
Whats in the rules, I have read them 5 times and still cant see why I cant post, except from here. If everyone would start providing an answer instead of saying " read the rules" then we'd no what to do! :nowords:
If you find out what give me a shout
Hey m8 welcome to the forum. Have you tried posting something relevant in the Football forum or D&D for example?
These forums are open to everyone and do not have a minimum relevant post count b4 members are allowed to access.
If you've tried this then I'd ask a mod or admin for help as it could be an error with your account/the forum itself.
hmm could be a shirt and tie job to get in

if you genuinly cant make a post in somewhere like the dog and duck or the hall of shame then something has gone wrong with your account and it needs to be checked out for you. i know you cant send a pm at the moment but if you realy are stuck post a new thread in the intro section explaining the problem, where you tried to post (and failed) and noting that i told you to post it. someone will then check your account for you to see what the problem is.

So is it delineated anywhere what constitutes a 'decent post'?We have now implemented a policy that you must have 10 decent posts on the rest of the board in order to make posts in the above few sections,
Do you really have to be told what constitutes a decent post? Use your common sense.Originally Posted by MarineBoy

make 10 posts (including an intro if you wish) that are funny, helpfull, informative or in some way put something usefull into the community and they count as decent and you are in
of course if you make 10 posts either way and dive into the cheapskates corner or limit yourself from then on to simply asking questions in one section and not helping out with others, when you can, it will again bring your membership into question.
if you look around the board you will see that hundreds of people have managed it without problems, yes some people arent always helpfull, we dont expect them to be but if you came here to learn there is no need to post untill you have learned and if you have knowelege to help others (even if thats to make them laugh) then there are plenty of sections on df that you will be able to post in to get your 10 posts before you can fill in the gaps in your knowelege
Here here to abcman </boosting my post count>
Tam.
Not really - but then if it was stated somewhere then I'd like to know about it.

Plus, we're not just talking about me here are we? There are lots of 'newbies' coming on here all the time.
Seemed like a bit of a brusque reply - if I may say so!
(I thought this was supposed to be a friendly place for welcoming new people! )
Thanks to ABCMan for the guidance.
BTW - for some reason I couldn't open the link that you give in your signature - not sure if it is actually relevant to this discussion but I thought you might like to know anyway.
Generally speaking I like the 'feel' of this community. Strangely enough - I would think that the original satellite question(s) that I have will be answered elsewhere by the time I'm 'fully-fledged' but I'm certain to have more - and yeah I'm sure that I can offer something in return along the way.
There are members far worse than me.Originally Posted by MarineBoy
