Default flash based mp3 player hacking

when i say hacking i mean hacking them apart lol i found my old 32mb flash mp3 player and started thinking how i could change it (add more memory more than anything) ive seen the prices of the usb flash drives are quite cheap (asda have a 512mb for £30 in carcroft) and i was wondering how hard it would be to take the one ive got apart and add one of the 512mb flash sticks in its place

ive had a look through google and dont seem to be able to find any info on this if you know of any sites or have any info on this then the karma's just sat here waiting

and if it works i'll be more than happy to make a how2 so you can all do the same

I took an old flash out of a mobile phone and fitted it to the extra set of pasds in a flash drive -hopefully to double the size.

    It didn't work.

I know it's much more advanced but what about if you could make a device to connect MP3 players to Flash drives?

if such a device would be possible then it'd be wicked.

failing that it's been done already (well sort of) will that do?

blank disc shop (***) has these in:

    {HA 4132} MP3 Player with SD/MMC Card Slot

so if you wanted to buy a MP3 player and a flash drive then save the expense and just use flash memory instead. It's in the special offers section.

    hope that helped ya

no m8 im not trying that (ive got a 20gb archos av400 that i can connect a compact flash card straight to if needed) what im thinking of doing is changing all the whole chunk of flash memory in the flash mp3 player to that of the flash drive

i think the best thing to do is chop one of the flash drives and the mp3 player apart and have a look at what ive got to do, then have a go

is there anywhere i can get a look at the inside of the flash drives without buying one?

    cas

edit- the creative players are made up of 2 pieces 1 flash drive and one control part with the play buttons on, so maybe if i can seperate the buttons from the flash drive then change the memory and find a way for the controls to be reconnected??
