Default UEFA Team of the Year 2004

Goalkeeper: Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus and Italy)

Defence: Cafu (AC Milan and Brazil), Ricardo Carvalho (Chelsea and Portugal), Alessandro Nesta (AC Milan and Italy), Ashley Cole (Arsenal and England)

Midfield: Cristiano Ronaldo (Man Utd and Portugal), Maniche (Porto and Portugal), Ronaldinho (Barcelona and Brazil), Pavel Nedved (Juventus and Czech Republic)

Strikers: Thierry Henry (Arsenal and France), Andriy Shevchenko (AC Milan and Ukraine).

    Coach: Josi Mourinho (Chelsea).

What about Beckham, he should be in cause he sells so many shirts.

I'm surprised Ar$e only have 2 players considering their performances last year.

    Interestingly, no Madrid players

That's probably a fair line up apart from Ronaldo...maybe a few others such as Seitaridis, Giuly or Deco could have got in...

C.Ronaldo had a storming Euro 2004 (as did Rooney) and I'd think that's why he's got in. I agree with VeRbIer in that I'd rather have someone else, like Zidane, over Deco - although both are not known for playing on the right.

He was the main reason Porto won the Champions League...had an oustanding campaign...as for Euro 2004 he was disappointing, fall outs with other players didn't help him

Xabi maybe? Took Lampard to the ****ing cleaners in the Spain v England match and looks a class act all round for Barcelona or even Joaquin.
Regardless, Ronaldo is there for a cracking Euro 2004.

and what did lampard win last year that makes him an automatic choice

he had a pretty good euro champs and a good season but ronni fired united to thei only trophy and played amazing for portugal in the champs and also the olympics

fifa look at that more than domestic stuff based on what i have seem of these types of selections

its quite strange how united players get sneered at by other teams supporters yet u dont hear many comments by united fans about players that were left out

just a reminder to those chelsea fans when they pull their heads out of their arses long enough to read it:

    last year you won.....fcuk all

u last won the league ..... over 50 years ago

after spending over £200m on players and managers you should win it this year...remember when the medals get handed out anyone?

Lampard was ace last season to be fair, and has been even better this time round, but I've gotta say he didn't have the best of Euro Championships by his standards
