    Hi Guys

i currently use avg anti virus version 7.0 (free edition) however just recently the autoupdate has not been working correctly. Has anyone else had this problem and know how to fix it.

i can manually do the update myself but want the auto update for peace of mind

Every AVG user is having the same problem, leave the auto update on it's own for long enough (3 - 4 minutes) and it will eventually do it.

    Hi all,

Not critical but certainley something afoot at the moment. my email scanner went awol, and updates where crashing. As Pegasus team said, just waiting it seems to come good.

Of course it is the best free so worth waiting!

As everyone has just updated at once i think the servers cant handle it but if you go to the website you can do a download from there and let it update manualy from file. thats what ive been doing this past couple of days.

its all down to load on the free server...

try adding this line to you local "hosts" file...
will get the auto update working a treat.

    From AVG Support Forum :-

    Update infrastructure improved

As many of you found 'the hard way', update servers for the AVG Free Edition were really overloaded last weeks. The number of active users of the AVG Free Edition has risen dramatically in recent weeks - much more than we anticipated when the new version was released. Consequently, the update infrastructure was not able to provide sufficient capacity. Last week, update servers were serving more than 5000 users concurrently practically whole day, providing constant throughput of several MB per second. We were well aware of the problem and during the last month, we were working on improvements of the infrastructure. As you may imagine, further increase of such a capacity is not just about "turning a knob", the process was a whole lot complicated.
I'm really glad to announce, that as of February 3rd, update server infrastructure has been moved to a different provider. Now the capacity was greatly enhanced and users of the free edition should not experience any (big) problems with update server accessibility. Of course, the AVG Free Edition still does not offer the same level of the update service as the full version - both in terms of capacity and reliability. However, we believe that the current solution will provide appropriate and acceptable functionality to all users of the AVG Free Edition.

Might also have something to do with the fact that tha update flag is set daily, therefore more people are logging on at the same time. Great AV .
