    Default phpBB2 - EasyMOD - help!

hey guys, just put up phpbb2 forum.

    trying to install easy mod.

i loaded all the files correctly and have the path set out right

i can access the install but cant get past that.

stuck on the screen where u got

The EasyMOD password will allow you to restrict which admins can use EasyMOD. By having access to EasyMOD an admin could covertly obtain your database user/pass and FTP info.
    Set EM password
    Confirm EM password
    File Access
FTP access is the perferred method for file access. If you do not have FTP access, EasyMOD has recommended alternate settings.
Reading server (only option for now)
Writing serverbuffer & ftpdownloadon screen alternate: server
Moving copyautomated FTPexecute scriptmanually load alternate: copy
    FTP Information
If you have FTP access to the web server, enter it below. The info will be stored fairly securely in the phpBB database. It will only be accessible through EasyMOD.
FTP path to phpBB2 (ex: public_html/phpBB2)
    FTP Username
    FTP Password
FTP Server (localhost should be fine)
FTP Debug Mode Yes No (only use if there is a problem)
PHP FTP Extension Yes No (only use if instructed to)
no matter what detials i put in i always get

    Testing selected write method
    Testing FTP access...

FTP ERROR: connection to localhost failed.
This error occurs frequently, particularly on hosts like Lycos. Back on step 1 you should try changing the FTP Server from 'localhost' to whatever hostname you typically use when you FTP.
i have made all files CHMOD 777 and still no luck.

    anyone suggest anything?

or another program of the same nature.

    installing mods into the forum.

tried it once before... tried it again:

    Testing selected write method
    Testing FTP access...

FTP ERROR: connection to ftp1.donhost.co.uk failed.
The FTP Server you have specified could not be connected to. The following is recommended:

Have you tried the default setting of localhost? This should be tried first.
Did you correctly enter the hostname? Try reentering.
Are you sure you have FTP access to the phpBB2 files? Obviously this is a requirement.
Some servers have issues with the fsockopen method that EasyMOD attempts to use by default. If you have the PHP FTP extension loaded, then enable that option in step 1.
    any more ideas WTD?

hmm.. I don't really have experience with phpBB (only have used vBullletin)

    but I would try...

setting the ftp server to: donhost.co.uk or ftp://donhost.co.uk (don't put the ftp.donhost.co.uk)

also you might need to CHMOD the folders too, not just the files.
