    Default Deleting MS-Dos Program files

    Hiya,

Someone sent me a file through email, and i scanned it and said it was safe. so i presumably carried on and when i opened it. it loaded up MSDOS with black image. so i thought ok nevermind. so i went to delete it, and it wouldnt delete.

i was then about to go through my hard drive to a MP3 file, when i saw more MSDOS files. i highlighted them all and deleted them.... when they disappeared i was like 'thank god', but a moment later they reappeared..... i checked the Recylce bin , and the files were in there...

When im on MSN too, it ater like every10-15mins it will pop up with every online contact and load up the 'send file option' with one of the files attached and ready to go

what can i try to get rid of the problem ?

    Thanks Matty J

If you are running xp, then hit ctrl + alt & del once see if the file is running if it is then stop it delete all the files that are to do with this program and try a restart.

    Hope this helps

Can you boot up in using a floppy and search for all the files then delete them, reboot windows you may get a few error messages if windows tries to find the files you deleted but should be able to use regedit and search for any link to the deleted files.

If you are using fat32 then it should be straight forward, if ntfs then you will need a suitable driver/program to access the drive.

Try http://www.bootdisk.com to help create a bootdisk.

Sounds like you have the virus called funny.exe? When you start up, it will try to run rundll32.exe from c:\ and then send itself to everyone. Both funny.exe and runndll32.exe are stored in your c:\ drive.

I think your right, the files have stupid things.... there is no funny.exe file, but the file which runs and sends it to people i think.... is in C:/Windows/system32 and its called l0l_53xy_l0l .

how would i go about deleting/getting rid of this ?
