    Question Scart and RGB Scart???

Is there a difference or are they the same thing?

The reason i ask is i had an old Grey Scart lead and this used to allow NTSC games to be viewed in colour on my TV but my kids managed to pull to wires of the scart end (dont know where they went otherwise i would solder them back if you can help on this please do) so i bought a new lead and this dont allow the games to play in colour so there must be a difference.. Please advise bwoyyysssssssss.

yup there is, if you notice on the rgb scart connector all the pins for connecting are there, but on the normal scart only some of the pins are there so it will only work in colour on PAL format, hope this helps, you would be better off trying to fix your old cable or just returning the one you bought and buying a rgb scart cable as they are relatively cheap

    hope that helps

scart is just a connector, capable of carrying signals in different formats. The 'normal' scart you mention is just composite video, and if your tv isnt capable of recovering the colour burst from an ntsc signal, is when you get black and white with imports.

anyway.. you need a scart pinout http://www.diyha.co.uk/electronics/scart.html

for rgb you at least need wires connected to 7,11,15 probably 8, at least one of the gounds and 2,6 for stereo audio, get the pinout of the psx end from www.gamesx.com

The new lead has all the pins but still black and white signal displayed, i will try to resolder old one or by another.

    Some ideas
Have you changed the setup since you had this working correctly.

Did you origionally go thru your video? or tv direct?
Is there a button or switch on the tv with s/video on it. try toggling it.
I have seen this on pasasonic tvs.

Is the a video mode function avalaible using the menu with remote ?

Nothing has changed apart from the cable becoming damaged.
