pc wont boot xp or other operating system

hi there i need you df members help
i have just bought an intel pentium 4 3egb presscot and a gigabyte p4titan 848p board with
twinmos 512mb ddr 400
the thing is it is saying it is running temps of 60c-69c in bios only
i have loaded win xp on twice now and everytime it goes ok untill it loads for the first time and it says

error loading operating system

i was wondering if it is down to the temps
but you's will be able to point me in the right direction

the hd works in other machines so it cant be that

Is this a multiple boot system or are you saying that it fails whichever single OS you install?
If it's multiple boot are the OS's on the same or different drives/partitions?
