Default Anyone having trouble posting with Firefox + OSX?

Hi guys - anyone else having trouble with Firefox and OSX? Just recently, whenever I use the full reply box or try to start a new topic (quick reply is fine) the actual box to type stuff into doesn't appear, only the orangy background box where I would presume the iFrame of content is meant to appear.

    Is it just my version?

Posted with OSX 10.3.8 and Firefox 1.0
    Full reply with enhanced editor.

You could try switching to plain editor mode and see if your setup handles that.
Otherwise I reckon you might have snafued your firefox m8.

    (Back in Safari)

It seems Firefox 1.0pre uses an user-agent string which vbulletin interprets incorrectly. If you are using 1.0PRE I would imagine that if you upgrade to 1.0 proper release this would solve it (as my above post worked!)

    HTH some more.

Yeah I was using 1.0.1 US - it worked fine for ages, then just seemed to take a shit and stop. It was also corrupting images on download (forum logo etc) and missing peoples avatars and what not, so I just downloaded the 1.0.1 British version (yay Brits) and I'll give that a wazz later (at home now on a Faeces).

Thanks for the replies though guys - much appreciated.

Well, using the 1.0.1 British version now and everything seems to be okay - I musta just corrupted me Firefox somehow - although to be honest I think the ATA on this machine is shot to shit - need a card me thinks, get quite a few (-36) errors, even though I know the drive is sound.

(-36 = I/O error (bummers) ) according to Apple themselves

You aren't using a Yosemite (B&W g3) revision 1 are you m8, they had really bad firmware for the ide drives.

(Even the rev2 can have bad problems if you put in a slave drive)

I am actually Nookie yeah - I look around the net a while back - seems it's only on larger HD's (I've put in a 120gb) and i also read somewhere that a new ATA card can sort the problems out - you know anything more about it?

Firmware has been updated but not recently, and I dont think theres any more revisions for it. Thanks again for the info mate... K

I bought a 2nd hand B&W to use as a webserver, I put in a few drives, and basically had very little luck with them. It's got a 30gig in now (mine's rev2) and it seems to be ok (though adding a slave f*cks things up).

I heard some makes of drive are better than others, but again, mine's working with 30gig just now, and that's all I need as it's only a web/mail server.

I've read that a adding a PCI card would work, but have no personal expereince with that.

Alternatively, and this is a really silly solution, you could put the 120gig drive in a firewire enclosure for very little money, and just have a small 4-8gig system disk inside the case.

[or buy a 2nd hand G4 rev 1 (2nd chance pcs usually have them - and it's better than ebay as they have to offer a waranty on them)]

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

No problem Nookie, that's great info there. Yeah apparently it's comfortable up to 30Gb then anything over that it starts to shit it's pants. It's fine generally, with the odd glitch, but Photoshop just wont do anything before it craps out - and being a digital designer, not exactly good lol.

I'll look into the ATA card thing but over 100 notes seems a bit much to fix a piss week problem. Ahh well.

edit: tried to give you more K but it told me off, need to spread the luuurve

    Bloody hell!

    I've got 2 B&W G3 (Rev 1 and Rev 2)
    G5 dual 2Ghz
a Mac Mini for music gear at home
iMac G5 1.8 for the missus (as well as her laptop, she bloody bleeds me dry)
an old 7600 (print server) lol and a 4400/200 - email server.

Malt - what kinda price for the G5's are you doing - basic spec, not DP or anything, just a standard 1.8 would do, it's only for a mate.

Since I left my job in Aberdeen, I've been dossing around, but am about to get into buying, selling and supporting macs over in northern ireland, so I *will* come calling m8.

At the moment I only have :-

    Colour Classic
    Se/30 with asante ethernet card
    B&W g3 (rev 2)
    G4 (pci graphics)
iBook (dual usb 600MHz) [above 3 through a belkin usb kvm]
    LCII (in bits)

my dad just got back my original rev A bondi imac from the bloke he sold it too years ago
and I've still got an upgrade daughter card for it somewhere - thing is it stops the usb working with anything other than the keyboard after I put it in !!
I have to sell my spare car before I get my dual G5 and mac mini.

I've also still got my trusty newton 2100 - best pda ever made and handwriting recognition has never been bettered (I.e. don't have to learn f*cking grafiti)
