    Default AMD Retail Sets

    just wondered what you guys thing of the cooling systems that come the the retails boxes, would you use them or is it best to buy oem and buy a seperate heatsink and fan

    also should i use paste or pads to conduct the heat?

    I think the majority would say the paste is better, but I myself use pads as they are easier to apply and less geeky (no offence intended)
    The retail sets are basically AMD certified, i.e they say they will guarantee it for 3 years if you buy the retails kit as opposed to the oem stuff, dunno if they have changed that policy.

    Am currently using a retail kit and it seems to be very good. Always use paste though as don't like the pads. Chip runs at 50 max after an hour of gaming.

    ive heard the warranty is viod if u use the paste as the retail kits come with pads

    was thinking of getting a 3000xp with l2 512 and 333fsb as i only have the old 2400xp with 265 l2 and 266 fsb. its a fairly cheap upgrade and look like it will make a noticable difference

    just out of interest if i do this but keep my old 266 memory will it be a pointless upgrade or still worth it?
