    Tech PeerGuardian2

    PeerGuardian2

I have been using this beta for some weeks now and have found it to have loads of improvments.

Updates for block lists are much better and some new good ways to switch it on and off.

I've been using beta 4a for just over a week & I'm pleased with it. No waiting for the blocklist to load when I start up the pc & the performance of the pc seems to be unaffected to the point where I might try burning dvd's while leaving pg2 on (something I couldn't do with pg1).

Thanks for that Unclex, just updated.

Allways found the original excellent but a bit of a pain loading up the block list.

Have you found any probs with this one yet?

Only problem I had was pg1 didn't totally remove itself when I did an uninstall. When I'd removed the remaining parts of pg1 the new version loads up properly. I think it's great so far, earlier betas gave me problems. It's bizarre but I really notice the reduced load on this pc, admittedly it isn't cutting edge anymore. p.s. I use aggresive list optimisation.

Got to read the instructions sometime, I remember in the pre-release they said you could hold ctrl + click a blocked link to temporarily allow it. I'd better read em.

Yes Ive seen that option what does it mean?

I can see that it reduces cpu power but how?

It's like this; let's say ip range 12345 is blocked & is known as 'nosey' and there's another range of 345 blocked which is called 'parker'. With aggresive optimisation the same ranges are blocked but some of the details on who they are is merged. So in the above case 'parker' will be incorporated into 'nosey' and pg2 only needs to remember it as 'nosey'. Hope this made sense
