Need some hostin

Hi,

I was looking around for hosting that i could put my forums on and came across this company.

Anyone used em before?

I have never used these guys myself, but I use a company called 34sp, I have never had any trouble with them. Also perhaps your ISP can offer you a deal on the service you require.

I was seriously considering signing up for their Bulk User package before christmas but after emailing a few questions I decided not to. I think the main reason was their silly extra charges (password protecting directories, stats, and advanced mailboxes) which really shouldn't be charged extra for in my opinion.

I'm not sure if it was this host or not but one I was looking at didn't provide an SMTP mail server either - saying you had to use your ISP server

. Quite sure it was streamline - will have a look in my archives.

Still looking for a package similar to their Bulk User offering but with a different (more reputable) company. These guys have had crap reviews on some hosting forums...

ok ..... my host has cut me off with out any warning

I have been with servage for a couple of months now and they is shit hot :thumbs 2.5Gb storage and a massive 165GB of bandwidth each month :coffee: Not to mention untold other excellent features all for 5.95 Euros a month Also when you order 12 months worth they actually give you 14 for no extra cost.

if u can live with 125 or 250MB of space then www.b-one.net will do a year sub for about �32 max and that's with PHP, ASP, Unlimited bandwidth and all the other usual stuff...just for comparison

Okay after a bit of a look around servage seem to be getting generally mid-range reviews. Apparently good for service but their transfer speed leaves something to be desired and their MYSQL servers are (according to testimonials) quite slow to respond. For the money, however they seem great. Am going to sign up for their package myself and see how it goes. 40 quid is nothing at the end of the day and they are known to give refunds. =) thanks for bringing them to my attention.

This is an easy way of choosing a host.

Look at the kind of server they are running.

LNT have a Dual Xeon 2.4ghz with 2 gigs of ram
that will cost around $250 - $350 depending on how good the network their on is.

�4 is about $7.6

$350 / $7.6 = 46 Which means they need 46 customers just to break even on the server costs.

500mb x 46 customers = 23gb (very supportable)
5000mb x 46 customers = 230gb (again very supportable)

The host will be ok because they wont be needing to do massive over selling to make a profit.
