</td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="3"></td> </tr> <!-- End Espotting Ad --> </tbody></table> By JAMIE PYATT A DAD has been jailed for waving a toy gun at youths he claimed were behind a campaign of harassment.
Richard Bottley, 37, was said to have been desperate when he brandished his six-year-old son’s pistol at two teenagers.
A court heard Bottley had been called a paedophile, threatened with baseball bats and suffered months of vandalism and theft.
But he was given six months by a judge who was told the youths believed the gun was real and were so terrified they ran away crying.
The case echoed that of special needs teacher Linda Walker, jailed in Manchester last month for firing an air pistol to frighten yobs.
Oxford Crown Court was told the vendetta against Bottley began after one boy’s sister claimed he kissed her.
Jonathan Coode, defending, said that when youths turned up on Bottley’s doorstep armed with bats he feared an attack and put the pistol in his pocket.
He pulled it out two days later when the two boys, aged 14 and 15, ran up to him saying: “You pervert, we are going to do you.”
The youths went to the police claiming he was armed with an Uzi sub-machine gun and that he had said to them: “Bang bang, I’m going to kill you and your family.”
