Was clearing out some old invoices last night and was looking through some of them from 1995, found a receipt for a system with a DX4-100, 8Mb ram and a 560Mb HD, came to £1450.00. Also found one from April 1995 for my first modem. So it's 10 years of being online.............. ahh, the memories. :cartman

I remember discovering the Huns Yellow Pages in 96 and never looked back. Before I found that bad boy I used to have real fun trying to find it. I seem to remember using AL4A and Marks Bookmarks before that but all were hard work on the old 386 SX25 that I had back then with a 9600 modem.

first online in `97 with a 14.4 modem, discovered "persian kitty" loads of links getting super fast downloads of 1.4kbs(normally .6kbs) it once took me over an hour to download a 1.5meg game, and the fekking phone bills happy days

we first got online when my mum took home a 14.4 to run some sort of telnet into the mainframe she had to fix/arse with at work

she worked for hydro electric, and they were using 286s and mainframes in 1995, no great surprise bills come out wrong half the time.

when father discovered he could also use her modem with a dialup payg internet service he eventually upgraded to 33.6 then 56k. in the end we had 3 modems in the house and one phone line, that didnt work too well if we all wanted to be online at once, so i set up a lan and got ics.

4kbs shared between 3 computers - oh that was ace

now we have 2mbit between 4ish computers, much more satisfactory

i've been online since ages too, back to amiga bbs's starting with 2400 modem (1hr for 1mb!) , then upwards.
i remember downloading amiga floppies on that, a few hours for a 3 floppy game or demo but the demos were usually worth it .lol

used to love the amiexpress bbs's and blueboxing back in the day , god knows how many years ago now, must be early 90s anyway.

I remember my mate getting a 9600 Racal modem. His dad used to work for the PO and they where chucking a lod out one day, so we nabbed it.
took us bloody ages to get the thing working, but once we did we found BBS pretty damned quick. His Dad banned us from using it once the phone bills started to come in!
