    Default advise please

    hi all i would like to ask you all for a bit of advise,

    i'm after a new harddrive between 100gig to 200gig.


    what would be the best make and where to get them from cheapish

    ive never had problems with maxtors... western digital 160 went tits up after about 2 years.

    1 x 20gig, 1 x 40gig, 1 x 60gig & 3 x 120gig Maxtor drives over that last 3-4 years and NEVER had a problem.

    My 1.6gig Western Digital died after about 18 months (a long time ago) and I have stuck with Maxtor ever since.

    Another maxtor lover here, I've got 6 big ones in my server and 3 in my main pc. Great drives imo m8

    Maxtor all the way (with Seagate a close 2nd)

    agree with everyone above maxtor is deffo first choice.
    seagate second
    ibm/hitachi third
    then it is a toss up between samsung or western digital.......... probly samsung
    with western digital as last choice.
    (nb if you do have to deal with western digital always set them to cable select not master or slave)

    and last and never to be fitted are fugitsu they r the worst ever.
    If at first you don't succeed, then sky-diving's not for you.

    if your using the drive to run your OS, then try going for a drive with 8mb cache... noticeable difference

    ebuyer.com is the cheapest
