Lock Workstation Problem - HELP

Hi

I have a very annoying problem which is probably easy to fix but i am tearing my hair out looking for it ! :grr:

I have Windows XP SP2 and when i hit ctrl-alt-del i go straight to task manager and cant find Lock Workstation ! dont know where it has gone ?

Can anyone help me bring it back !

Only Shambles or an administrator can unlock this computer

...when I press windows key + "L".

To lock a computer that is not on a domain

Press the Windows logo key () + L.

If Fast User Switching is turned on Microsoft© Windows© displays the Welcome screen. Anyone with an account on the computer can log on. If the Guest account is turned on, any user can log on to the computer as a guest.

The Welcome screen will either indicate that you are still logged on or will display the number of programs you have open.

To log on to the computer, click your user account name and type your password to return to your open files or programs.

Notes

Windows will prompt you for a password only if you have set up your user account with one. However, it is highly recommended that you assign passwords to all accounts on the computer.
When Fast User Switching is turned on, any user can shut down the computer from the Welcome screen. This will automatically log you off and could result in data loss if you have not saved your work.
If Fast User Switching is turned off

Depending on how your computer is configured, Windows displays either the Unlock Computer or the Computer Locked dialog box. In either case, your system is now locked, preventing everyone except you or an administrator from unlocking your system.

To unlock your computer using the Unlock Computer dialog box, in the Unlock Computer dialog box, type your password.
To unlock your computer using the Computer Locked dialog box, press CTRL+ALT+DELETE, type your password, and then click OK.

When in task manager, MENU:- Shut Down - Lock computer (Winkey + L )
That's what it is normally, if your's is different, please tell us what it say's.

u sure your not mistaking the password box for the login box?

could also try disabling the welcome screen shite and just use a login box:
control panel > user accounts > change the way users log on or off > untick use welcome screen.

that might bring up the option thing with ctrl alt del and lock it.. but who knows... your not on a work machine thats part of a domain policy of some sort are you?

Cheers for your help i am gonna try that untick welcome screen suggestion, i hate that welcome screen its pointless.

the machine is not part of a domain so no policy would be on it. Its my home pc its just frustrating i cant find the lock function.

Hi guys just to let you know, disabling the welcome screen worked ! i can now lock my pc from prying eyes
