    Default re-install of xp

The trojans have beat me and so i decided to do a format and re-install of xp , previous my pc was running xp on sp2 upgraded form win98se , i have now installed xp with sp2 , at present i have only got avg & zonealarm installed and am having intermittent problems with it , freezing and the like , so my question is should i have installed sp1 before installing sp2 ?

As usual, it may well be your version of zonealarm that is causing all the problems.
Uninstall it and install one of the many other free firewalls and see if that clears your problems.

    Regards.

sniper , Head over to http://www.autopatcher.com/ and download the full package security/update package, this way you won't have to keep doing a windows update.

you will be ok will the improved firewall in sp2 - i dont think the system likes it if you have 2 firewalls running at once

zone alarm just sucks system resources

pc freezing sometimes indicates bad memory

just thought i would share that with you
