    Default Powerpoint annoyance... help!

    using office 11.

how the fuck do you disable the automatic snapping to the edge of a slide.

this has been doign my head in for a long while. when pasting in a couple of images into the slide and moving them near to the edge (its a kind of standard corporate template were using and im aiming to have the images just slightly away from the edge of the slide, obviously i can nudge it etc and move it with the arrow keys, but whats pissing me off is it keeps snapping (thats the word for it im sure) the image to the edge of the slide when movnig the image with the mouse. which is particularly annoying in this case as im trying to resize them once positioned near the edge and when resizing, it snaps to the edge also.. meaning it fooks the size up.

ive hunted for an option to diable auto snapping to the edge of the slide, but im fooked if i can find anything.

anyone any idea how to stop the bastard doing it? :grr:

    tia.

just tried that.. holding ctrl then moving the image with the mouse leaves a copy in the original place while allowing you to move the new one without having to copy paste, quite handy btw, but not what im after.

the 1 pixel movement i could already do using the arrow keys.

and the guides thing only stops it snapping to grids and guides, not the slide edge.

thanks for trying tho shang, appreciated.

oo, after playing a bit, it appears if you hold alt while resizing or moving it doesnt auto snap to the slide edge.

    problem solved.

I use powerpoint quite a lot, I'm not quite sure what you mean though. I just tried it on blank presentation, and it does not appear to happen? So it's perhaps something in the companys template, that does not allow images to be close to margin?

I think they are called placeholders, do F1 in powerpoint, choose the Answer Wizard Tab, and type in About Layouts, choose the one that only says "About Layouts"

On the Tools menu, click AutoCorrect Options.
Click the AutoFormat As You Type tab.
Under Apply as you work, select or clear the Automatic layout for inserted objects check box

    Does that do it?

Maybe I completely misunderstood the issue?

...and I have just spent 10 minutes, trying to be clever. Ah well, back to sleep...
