xp zone alarm and wireless being a bitch

hi guys
this is a tricky 1 (and its giving me a headache)

laptop xp sp2 wireless card (with zone alarm pro)
pc xp sp1 wiredcard to a d-link ap

turn my laptop on and every thing but file sharing (from pc to laptop) works (net access fine)
so i decided to play with that to get it working
was running norton internet sec on the pc but it had expired (plus norton has always bin a bitch to me about sharing files) so i got rid and install zone alarm pro and it configed and all seem good but sharing files still wasnt working so i decied to play around some more ran the networking wizzard on both still no good so started playing with the firewalls now when i open firefox (i have to homepages set (2 tabs) ) df and ebay ) df will load but cannot find ebay
which is an emprovement on before when nothing worked but i no its not ebay as i cant load any thing in the 2nd tab but the name could not be found and i still cannot see the pc share

so 1 tab works (or at least df does) another tab doesnt torrents work and i still cant see the files
and i cant find the asprin

edit: the laptop works fine at home on the wireless network there

firefox has issues with zone alarm.... use opera...

I have no problems sharing between my laptop and PC on firefox using zonelarm (not pro) and on a wirless network.

All I done was to allow the wireless adaptor in my trusted zone. And the I set a network range that I allowed in the trusted zone. So all I.P's from 1-10 could be allowed to connect. That seemed to solve any problems. I can now transfer files between both, and either can connect to the net.

well the thing is the setup is

pc to hub then to access point
wireless to laptop

atm im at home im on the latop i can see shared files fine and access the net fully
so its most likley the pc at work ive shutdown zone alarm on the pc and laptop still no joy.... so i'm thinking its the pc but dont no what on the pc
all network file internet connection settings look fine

so im at a loss

what if you turn off zone alarm, will it work then , if so its a setting in zone alarm , in firewall tab click custom buttons to check all settings

yeh with both zone alarms off it still doesnt work.....

my only other thought was old firewalls installed but the only 2 i had were outpost and norton firewall but both were uninstalled so that *should* remove any settings that were held by them if not how do i fix that?

you could use a regcleaner such as regseeker and tell it to look for the names of the software progs you unistalled

if you are using xp with service pack 2 it has got a better firewall in it maybe thats conflicting with the other firewalls

i'll grab a reg cleaner tomorrow when i go back and give it a try

pc has xp sp1 (or not at all) which has it disabled
the laptop has xp sp2 with it disabled

well i was wrong the day after it didnt work....had another laptop down here and it still didnt work
its hasnt bin a prob cos ive connected to the flats above but he might be changing his wep

so would like to get it sorted asap

only other thing i can think of it might be summit to do with the access point but cant figure out how to connect it i no theres a dos command to see what ips are connected to the pc (however i can not remember what it is)
and the s/w disc that came with it is sotred on the main pc if installed on a wired network if doesnt see the access point (and as i cant share the files i cant install it on the laptop and i have no cdr drive lol )

is there a ping command that will do a whole range like ping 192.168.0.*
